Lyme Disease

Colloidal Silver For Lyme Disease

Because I live in Minnesota and our family has a cabin in the North woods, I'm aware of Lyme disease. Our family is so aware of it that one member tacked a photo of a tic bite to the kitchen counter. We've found crawling tics on floors, our clothes, our beds, and our bodies. Tics are hardy little devils and you think you've killed one, only to have it walk away. That's why we wrap tics in cellophane tape, pinch the tape hard, and seal the edges tightly.

Another common method of removing ticks is to smother them. People slather the tick with a substance like Vaseline. The idea is that the tick, unable to breath, will let go and can be removed, or else simply suffocate to death. However, this is also not a safe method of tick removal. Again, the ticks are likely to regurgitate their stomach contents, which really is disgusting, and can lead to a variety of illnesses and infections.

Don't consume any hydrogenated fats or oils (this means absolutely no margarine!). Your skin will never clear up without ridding your diet of harmful substances like hydrogenated fats or oils.

Hard- and soft-shelled ticks are stubbornly resistant to many insecticides and bug repellants, making them troublesome to animals and humans who enjoy the outdoors. Ticks often jump out of tall grasses, trees, weeds and other natural environments onto people and other creatures, latching on to suck blood and possibly pass along infections. Ticks may transmit several different diseases to animals and humans, including Colorado Tick Fever (Rocky Mountain Fever), elisa testing, Q Fever, Tick-borne meningoencephalitis and more.

If my child is old enough to comprehend, have I taken the time to educate him or her to stay away from ants/bees/cool looking centipedes that could be poisonous etc? Children are sponges and a little proactivity goes a long way.

Yes, if the pet is not over a 20 pound weight limit and the carrier can fit under your seat. But keep in mind the pets have to be taken out of the carrier to walk through security screening with their owner. This is a time when pets become very nervous and may jump out of your arms, getting injured or lost.

Two of my dogs had a terrible reaction. Where the topical was applied between the shoulder blades and up toward the neck, several lumps ranging from small to nearly golf ball size erupted. Playing stopped. Eating stopped and most movement stopped.

Use products that contain permethrin to treat clothing and gear, such as boots, pants, socks and tents or look for clothing pre-treated with permethrin.

You should inspect your pets regularly for tics as well. After one visit to the North woods we found more than 40 tics on our Golden Retriever and removing them took hours. This brings up another prevention tip, which is staying on established trails and paths. Be alert to Lyme disease and do everything you can to protect yourself.
